Little Manhattan

by Chelsea

Little Manhattan is about two 11 year olds finding their first love. Gabe played by Josh Hutcherson has always thought girls were disgusting until the day Rosemary Telesco (Charlie Ray) joins his karate class. From that moment on everything in Gabe’s life is turned upside down.

At Gabe’s school everything changed in 2nd grade because in the classrooms it was boys on one side girls on the other. Boys were awesome but all the girls had cooties. But when Gabe decides to take karate and Rosemary Telesco ends up in the same class his head starts spinning. They start hanging out outside of class and Gabe even takes her on a tour of Central Park. But when a ked named Tim Staples joins the class things start to change and Gabe has to find a way to keep her in his life.

I thought this movie was excellent because the ending is a complete surprise. I also thought the movie did a good job of showing us what Gabe was thinking like the way a really good book does. In a way this movie could have been very cheesy but it never was. I thought the main subplot of the story was also very good. If I was ever going to recommend a kids love story, this would be the one.

As far as criticism, there isn’t really much to say. I mean there are a few things here and there that I would change. Like the martial arts guy who kept coming in at random times because it was sort of annoying and distracting. I think that the rest of the movie was very good. I don’t think there is anything else that I would change.
